Download contains image with transparent background at 5000x5000.

I wish I could give you a source, it was from some anime scan page, I apparently lost the bookmark. This was from some promotional image I think. It was huge but I wanted it HUGER and with transparency. Like I said, the download contains the massive image with the transparent background. This image is just a wallpaper I made so that I could actually make some use of my massive image.

it looks excellent. AND it brings back memories. i want to do a saturn one now X3

and i'm commenting on it because everything else submitted to the AVA is all the exact same pinkhaired bullshit (except this one other thing i saw but eh whatevs).

simple and effective, nice image definitely promo worthy. i wish i could see the source so i could tell ya more.

Yeah I wish I could find it too. I made this when I had Paint Shop Pro, which I lost after a format, and so I can't open it anymore. Apparently I deleted the source image and I lost the link to the site in that format as well. That really sucks too because that site was full of huge anime artbook scans and whatnot for all kinds of shows, it was awesome. I hope I find it again someday.

well the internet is a big big place x_x

and fuck yeah! psp for the win!
don't let anyone ever tell you that it's not a legit vector program. they'd be talking out of their ass.

Oh yeah, I mean really most of the files on AVA actually aren't "vectors" since they aren't the SVG, EPS or AI files. They're just bitmap renders...so provided you use the same methods in PSP, or even Photoshop, what you have created is just as much a "vector" as anything else. I have become really taken with Inkscape as of late though because I can actually get SVG files out of it.
:iconsparkpenguin:
the hell... what are you spouting? WHAT IS WITH PEOPLE?

the file extension doesn't dictate veck or not dude. vector is recorded point entry, the key word being "recorded." it doesn't matter by brand name or file type, sheez. veck's been around since before THE MOUSE, it's just math-based artwork. it's not any company's standard or trademark.

No, that's exactly what I'm saying. PNG is a bitmap image format. There is no math in PNG, go look at how it works, I'm serious. PNG just uses really good compression as compared to JPG but beyond this they are nearly identical.

Filetypes such as SVG or EPS are what actually store the drawing information. Try it, try scaling a 500x500 pixel PNG image up to 5000x5000. What happens? It gets blurry due to pixel doubling, there is no math in there, just hex. Now try resizing a file such as SVG, take it from 50x50 and scale it to 10000x10000. You get the same image, just gigantic.

Indeed, it is as you say, vector has existed since the very early days of computing. Games using vector graphics, for example, all map and character data was stored as the X and Y variables and scaled to match the screen's resolution. However, if you were to take a screen capture, which is essentially what exporting a SVG, PSP, or EPS image is, and save it as JPG, PNG or GIF what you have is now a bitmap render of a vector, not the vector itself. The vector is still safely tucked away in the game's source.

tl;dr Any image that is PNG, JPG, GIF, or any other bitmap format is NOT the vector itself. Again, there is no positional math inside a bitmap image. These are just renders of the real vector. PSP, PS, SVG, EPS, AI or an XML sheet that is read and drawn to the screen these are the actual vector files, they contain the math.
:iconsparkpenguin:
okay... i got ya now... yeah i knew all that but i musta missed what you meant when you brought it up originally. sorry i got steamed, but i notice a lot of bozo artists on here don't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to programs/formats. in fact i had problems with the AVA when i first joined because the belief was that vector was some sort of Adobe exclusive and that PSP work could only qualify as vexel. the reality was, none of them had ever used PSP or perhaps any other programs (probably cuz they weren't suggested by their graphics teachers)
but you can't display a lot of those construction filetypes. eventually, especially on DA, you HAVE to flatten your images to upload them online. that doesn't disqualify them at all, it's just the final display product. god help the servers if we all had to download full construction files-- layers and all-- every time someone viewed a deviation...

Oh indeed and do forgive me if I sounded a bit...I dunno...irritated or something. I believe it was around 6am when I replied and had almost been awake 24 hours. Like you said though, it really is rather annoying that some individuals are unwilling to accept things not created in vector tools as true "vectors." After all, while a picture made in PSP and saved as a PNG is no longer technically a vector neither is a picture made in Inkscape or Illustrator and exported as PNG. I'm sure everyone will figure it out someday haha.
:iconsparkpenguin:
no it IS a vector. PNG GIF JPG BMP whatever you save it as, you created it in a vector function of a program CAPABLE of vector, this is what i'm saying-- it is a vector. it was created through vector means. if you photograph an oil painting, it's still an oil painting. IN THE PHOTOGRAPH. what you are showing to people is not a photograph, no, the contents of the photograph entail an oil painting that you have some desire to show people. same principle.

how you create it decides whether it's a vector, not how you choose to showcase it. otherwise there would be no vector art on DA, or the internet. or anywhere, except inside the program, and the writers of the software do not intend for you to take your computer everywhere and open PSP/Inkscape/Flash when you want to show people your work. (or send them the construction file providing they ahev the same program you do).

i... i never thought you sounded irritated... not once rofl. but... i dunno i think sometimes the way i type (or maybe it's just the speed i type) makes me sound irritated, so that's why i apologized.
